I was listening to a podcast today by Mel Robbins who I find truly inspirational. The podcast was called 'How to make 2026 the best year: 6 questions to ask yourself'.
You essentially ask yourself 6 questions - 1. What were the low points of your year? 2. What were the high moments? 3. What did you learn this year? 4. What are you going to stop doing? 5. What are you going to continue doing? 6. What are you going to start doing? Mel also provides a 20 page free handout that you can use to guide you in the above questions. It was whilst completing this workbook that inspired me to set up this website and start blogging! it's been something that I have been thinking about doing for a while, but I have avoided starting one as I thought 'hey, who is going to want to read about what I am doing' - I have since come to the realisation, that I am doing this for myself, to document my journey and to be held accountable to myself..... and if someone does happen to find themselves to my blog, then hello and welcome!
I am a 46 year old, mom of two, premenopausal woman who works a stressful job and has put on a lot of weight the last 10 years! Every year I tell myself that I am going to loose weight, go to the gym more, eat better. Sound familiar? So, my promise to myself and my main goal is to start taking better care of myself. I am going to do this by:
1) Meal prep so I eat better
2) Go to that very expensive gym that I pay for and hardly visit
3) Aim to do 5k steps a day - I know it's not a massive amount, but my job is sedentary and I am very unfit!
4) Get 7-8 hours sleep every night
5) Aim to write one blog per week to keep me accountable
One goal I did stick to this year was reading more. In fact, I am probably bordering on obsessive. This year I have read over 160 books - I was keeping a list on my laptop of these, but stopped at around 150. Guys - FANTASY ROMANCE OMG. I am in love with this genre. My son thinks I am a weirdo and that these books are only for 14 year old girls - rude. I obviously disagree! so, I am going to share my books and reviews along the way.
